Service Details: Rite of Reception of the Body will be Tuesday, September 24, at 10 a.m., at St. Mary Church, 2853 Erie Ave., Hyde Park. Mass of Christian Burial will follow at 11:00 a.m. with The Most Reverend Dennis M. Schnurr, Archbishop of Cincinnati, as celebrant. Interment will be at St. Mary Cemetery, Mt. Healthy.
Obituary: Father William M. Kennedy, 73, Retired in Residence at St. Mary Catholic Church, Hyde Park, died Thursday, September 19, 2013, in Cincinnati. He was born on his countryís birthday, July 4, 1940, in Dayton, Ohio, third son of Harry and Mary Adlyn Kennedy. He attended Our Lady of Mercy Grade School and Chaminade High School in Dayton. He graduated from St. Joseph College in Rensselaer, Indiana, and earned a masterís degree in history at the University of Cincinnati. He then entered Mount Saint Mary Seminary and was ordained a priest in May, 1971, in Cincinnati. He served as pastor at several parishes in the Greater Cincinnati area. Survivors include his brothers, Harry of Fresno, California and Tom of Fayetteville, Arkansas, nieces, Maura of Cincinnati and Caitlin of Fayetteville, nephews, Padraic of York, Pennsylvania and Eamon of Windsor, Colorado, his godmother, Sister Agatha Fitzgerald OSU and an extended family of close cousins, primarily in the Dayton and Cincinnati area. He was known and loved by many fellow priests, former parishioners, and good friends in the Cincinnati area and nationwide. His fame as the Irishmanís Irish priest was widely recognized in the Cincinnati-Dayton region. The Rite of Reception of the Body will be on Tuesday, September 24, at 10:00 a.m., at St. Mary Church, 2853 Erie Ave. Hyde Park, followed by Mass of Christian Burial at 11:00 a.m.. The Most Reverend Dennis M. Schnurr, Archbishop of Cincinnati will be the celebrant. Interment St. Mary Cemetery, Mt. Healthy. In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be made to St. Vincent DePaul Society or the American Diabetes Association.
